Ms Varunika Saraf, UK Visiting Fellowship (2010-11), while Research Scholar, School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, to undertake research into collections and archives to plot the trajectory of artists who were active in the development of modern Indian fine art but did not engage with art schools.
Varunika Saraf now practices as an artist and art historian and is based in Hyderabad. Her art practice involves work with wasli, an ancient Indian paper and hand-ground pigments, employing colour as a form of abstraction and working both at large and small scale. She is represented by Chemould Prescott Road, Mumbai, and has been widely exhibited, both in India and internationally. Her work is in public collections such as the KNMA, New Delhi, Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, Ahmedabad, and the Sarmaya Foundation.
