Dr Sangeeta Dasgupta, Small Study and Research Grant UK (2003-04), while Lecturer, Department of History, Vishva Bharati University, Santiniketan, to study the concept of the ‘tribe’ by means of an analysis of images of the orient in European museum and colonial records.
Dr Dasgupta is now (2026) Associate Professor, Centre for Historical Studies, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Her academic interests include Adivasi Studies; Environmental History; Colonial Ethnography; Missionary Studies; Visual Representations.
