Dr Vibha Singh Chauhan was awarded a Small Study and Research Grant (India) 1996-97, when Senior Lecturer, University of Delhi, for her project: Gods People Make: A survey of Local Deities in eastern Uttar Pradesh, which studied how indigenous gods emerge and their linkages with local communities.
Dr Vibha Singh Chauhan is a Director of the ETI Foundation, an organisation which was founded with the aspiration to help the most vulnerable and marginalized by ensuring access to health and empowerment opportunities. ETI works closely with stakeholders including communities and governments, keeping in mind the holistic perspective of learning and growth along the way.
Formerly, Dr Singh Chauhan was Principal of Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. Her formal educational training was in English Literature, Education and Law. Her major research interests include gender studies, culture studies, non-urban livelihoods, and protest movements. She is also the Founder-Secretary of the group ‘Health, Equality and Literacy Movements’ (HELM)- working closely to address challenges faced by the most vulnerable in India.
Dr Chauhan holds a PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for her work on “Community in Fiction: A Study of Selected Novels in English, Hindi and Bangla” and published extensively in reputed national and international journals.
