Dr V S Badiger was awarded a Small Study and Research Grant (India) 2008-09, when Deputy Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, Aurangabad Circle, for field research on Yadava period temples in Aurangabad District, Maharashtra.
Dr. Badiger completed his Post-Graduation and Ph.D degree from the Karnataka University’s Kannada Research, and History & Archaeology Departments. He was Superintendent of the ASI Dharwad Circle, and in 2022 Dr Badiger was appointed as one of the Directors of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), based in Delhi.
