Dr Tiatoshi Jamir was awarded a Small Study and Research Grant (India) 2002-03, when Lecturer in Archaeology, Dept of History and Archaeology, Nagaland University, Kohima, Nagaland, for ethnoarchaeological research on the mortuary practices of the Chakhesang Nagas.
Dr Jamir is one of India’s leading indigenous archaeologists, and has continued to explore Nagaland’s prehistoric landscape over the past two decades. He holds a PhD from Deccan College, Pune (2005) and is a Professor of Archaeology in the Department of History & Archaeology, Nagaland University. His deep interests focus on Northeast Indian prehistory, Naga monumentality, and the ways of learning and knowing the human story of Northeast India’s past, particularly Nagaland, from an Indigenous lens.
