Dr Sanjoy Kumar Mallik was awarded a Small Study and Research Grant (India) 1993-94, when a MA student at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU) Vadodara, for the study of seventeenth century Malwa miniatures.
Dr Mallik is Professor in the Fine Art Department at Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University. He was awarded his M.Fine Arts in 1993, and his PhD (on 1940s Bengal) in 2003 at MSU.
Dr Mallik’s research focusses on the “modern” in Indian art & the defining of the region and pictorial language and narration in miniature painting traditions of India.
