Dr Pankaj Sharma is now Director of the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Gujarat, and is a leading museum professional and heritage specialist known for his innovative initiatives such as the “Museums at Your Doorstep” virtual tours. He has played a key role in major heritage projects, including serving on committees for the new museum at the Statue of Unity. His work focuses on managing archaeological sites, modernising museums, and integrating technology into heritage preservation and public engagement. Dr Sharma frequently speaks on the use of technology, marketing, and experiential learning in museums, advocating strategies for enhanced accessibility, visitor experience, and sustainable management. He has been actively involved in collaborative research projects between the Gujarat government and premier institutions, including IITs, to study the archaeological and historical significance of Vadnagar. Earlier, he served as Senior Curator at the MSMS II Museum, City Palace, Jaipur.
