Dr Vandana Singh was awarded a UK Travel Award (2018-19) when a Technical Committee Member for the conservation of artefacts and structural conservation of Mysore Palace, Mysore. Her award allowed her to present a paper ‘Revitalising the lost art of sword-smithing of India – material, technique and rituals’ at the ICO Conference in Bath, June 2018, and to visit conservation departments at the British Museum, National Army Museum, Wallace Collection, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the Royal Armouries, Leeds.
Dr Vandana Singh holds a master’s and doctorate in art conservation from the National Museum Institute, New Delhi, and an M.Sc. in Chemistry from Kanpur.
In 2016 she founded Kala Sampada as a specialized art conservation practice with expertise in metal conservation. Over the years, the work expanded to include painting and textile conservation, and Kala Sampada is now part of one of the largest paper conservation projects in India with the National Archives of India.
In 2024, Kala Sampada entered a strategic partnership with Gallery Systems, becoming the exclusive Indian distributor of TMS Collections, the world’s most trusted collection management software.
