Asked Questions

APPLICATION PROCESS

Please first read the information provided on the website.

Both awards are for individuals proposing to visit the UK.

  • The UKVF provides both the costs of travel (including insurance
and UK visa) and a maintenance award.
  • The UKTA is for shorter visits (such as conferences). It is a fixed
award for part support. It is not assumed to cover all costs.
  • Candidates must indicate how they will cover the additional costs.

Candidates are expected to make direct contact with institutions with
which they wish to interact or where there are collections they wish to
consult. Most institutions’ websites will give contact details. Requests for
further advice on this should be sent to: EMAIL ADDRESS

Yes, you may. These should be submitted as separate applications, but

Yes, you may. These should be submitted as separate applications, but
the panel will review your set of applications as a whole.

Yes, you may. For example, someone who has received a SSRGIN may
apply for a UKVF or UKTA subsequently.
However:

  • Your application will not be considered unless you have submitted a
satisfactory report following any earlier award.
  • New applicants for an award category would normally given
    precedence.

A referee should be someone who is familiar with your work, the project
for which you are applying for an award, and your suitability to undertake it
- for example, a university teacher or former teacher or employer. A character reference is not per se adequate.

  • Your references should be uploaded with your application.
  • Unless two references are received, your application is not complete and will not be considered.
  • There is only ONE selection round each year.
  • The annual closing date for applications is mid-February.

APPLICATION OUTCOMES

  • Shortlisted candidates for the UKVF will be invited to interview in Delhi in
late March/early April and informed of the outcome thereafter.
  • Costs of travel and appropriate accommodation will be covered. Interviews may
also be held online, depending on circumstances.
  • Candidates for all other awards will be informed of the outcome of their
    application by mid-April each year.

The NTICVA takes into account the applicant’s cv, their skills and their abilities in relation to their proposed project and its purposes, and the references they provide.

The NTICVA receives many more applications than it can make awards. It is not
able to comment further on its decisions.
